James aka Jym Bo, 20, applied for the training programme in 2009 after his Auntie told him about it and he's been part of the team ever since. Here's what he thinks about wood, wheels and the XtraVert crew...

What do you like about working with wood?

It’s different every time you work with it and it feels good, really satisfying, when you have actually made something yourself.

How long have you been skating for?

I have been skating for 11 years or so I think, a long time.

What’s your favourite skate spot?

My local park with the boys, you can't beat it.

What’s your best trick?

I like getting some air time on the mini ramp, we're making some in the Unit now actually - worth checking out.

What’s your worst injury?

I smashed my face up on the vert a few years ago at Mount Hawke. Pretty nasty;  my face is ok now though!

What’s your favourite thing about skating?

The risk of falling off! I like the adrenalin rush and just love cruising around; it’s my favourite form of transport.
